Visit Sicily

Visit the Land of Your Ancestors ! or Just Enjoy this Beatiful Place. Design your own itinerary for your Italy vacation, and have a personal escort in English when you arrive  Let the guide drive you around, or rent your own car. Ancestor research before your visit is much preferred,  but on the day is also possible. Note: Sicilian archives do not permit you to sit and do your own research or touch the books. The guide will take you to a town hall where you can expect to get a single document from the archivist. Better to let Pallante Center do the research in advance.

  •  Pick-up from airport, cruise ship, train or bus stations available, with tour purchase.
  •  Personal translator for a day to meet new relatives (with or without driver, if you’ve already rented a car). Your guide will arrange everything.
    • Note: Living relatives must be discovered in advance, through genealogical research.  If none can be found, the guide can introduce you to people with the same surname in your ancestral village.

If you don’t know what village your ancestor came from, the Pallante Center can help. See our “Discover Your Town of Origin” Package.  It’s best to have a bit of a tree built in advance to show your new relatives, so they can understand how you fit in to the extended family.  PCIR offers accompanying genealogical services.

Secure your date. Ask for a Quote. Don’t wait!

Group size– from one person to large groups. If you request to be driven, the appropriate sized vehicle will be determined in advance. If you will arrive on a cruise ship, a guide can pick you up at your ship and take you to see your ancestral village for a day and return you to your ship.  These tours are flexible and unique for your group. If you prefer to rent a car, the guide can meet you at a predetermined location.

The tour guide can also take you to whatever major tourist sites in the region you want to visit. Taormina, Mt. Etna, Valley of the Temples, and more. Perhaps a winery to sample the local wine, or an old-style chocolate factory, or cheese-making facility. Lunch in the local “trattoria” of a village with genuine Sicilian food such as “pane di casa” (homemade bread) with genuine olive oil, dried tomato, olives, and fresh ricotta cheese!

When visiting an ancestral village, a tour may include a visit to the main church, where usually it’s possible to check records (about an ancestor’s baptism , wedding etc.)  the town hall ( to consult ,  when possible , the old documents),the cemetery ( to look for possible ancestor’s graves) and of course, talking with local people makes the trip extra special.

Sicily is a beatiful place to spend your vacation! Each province has something unique to offer.
